Using FOOTDB, and what you get for a point

Using this site means you accept what is written here. It is short on purpose — everything below is something you would actually want to know before you spend a cent.

1 — What FOOTDB is

FOOTDB is a personal football results database. It collects public match results — dates, teams, tournaments, scores — and computes things from them: draw rates, no-draw runs, draw debt, league tables and head-to-head records. The pages are free. The API and MCP server are paid.

It is run by one person, as a side project. There is no company behind it, no support desk and no uptime promise.

2 — Not betting advice, not financial advice

Nothing here tells you what to bet on. The numbers describe matches that have already been played; they are descriptive statistics, not predictions and not tips.

3 — The data is not guaranteed accurate

Everything is sourced from public feeds and encyclopaedias, imported and indexed automatically. Sources can be wrong. Imports can miss matches, duplicate a team or mis-date a fixture. Coverage is uneven — some competitions go back a century, others barely start.

Nothing on the site, the API or the MCP server is guaranteed accurate, complete or current, and no liability is accepted for what you do with it. If a number matters to you, check it against the original source.

4 — Points: what they are and what they buy

1 call = 1 point = 1 cent, on the REST API (/v1) and on the MCP server (/mcp) alike. Points are prepaid: you buy them first, then spend them a call at a time. They are credits for calls, not money, not a deposit and not a currency — they have no cash value and cannot be transferred or paid out.

A new account gets 10 free points on sign-up, and 2 more each month it is active — a month with no sign-in and no API call is skipped, and skipped months are never granted retroactively. Referrals pay 10% of every point your referee receives, in points.

A request that is rate-limited never costs a point. A request that is answered does, including one served from cache.

5 — There are no refunds

Think twice before you buy — there are no refunds. Not for unused points, not for mistakes, and not for a coin sent to the wrong network. The product is data, and data cannot be returned.

Top-ups are crypto transfers you make yourself and then claim on the balance page. Three things about that are irreversible, and all three are yours to get right:

  • Network and gas fees are paid by you, on top. We must receive the exact amount shown — a smaller amount is not credited.
  • Send only the selected coin on the selected network. Anything else is lost, and cannot be recovered by anyone.
  • A claim credits nothing by itself. Points appear after the transfer is verified on the chain, usually within 24 hours.

Points already credited stay credited. A mistaken credit is corrected with an adjustment in the ledger, so every movement remains visible to you.

6 — Fair use, and your key

A key is yours: keep it secret, and treat every call made with it as your own. Each key has its own rate limit — stay inside it rather than routing around it.

Keys may be revoked for abuse: scraping the whole database, hammering the endpoints, sharing or reselling a key, or anything that degrades the service for other people. A revoked key does not buy back its unspent points.

7 — Your account

Sign-in is Google and nothing else — there is no password to store and none to lose. One person, one account; the balance, the keys and the game rating all hang off it.

Ask and the account is deleted. Any remaining balance is forfeited — see the privacy page for what deletion actually removes.

8 — Things will change

Pricing, endpoints, tools and limits can change, and so can these terms. Changes are announced on the site before they take effect, and this page carries the date it was last updated. Carrying on using the site after a change means you accept it.

9 — The game

The online game and its leaderboard are for fun. Ratings are a number on a page — they buy nothing, they are not points, and they may be reset or recalculated if the ladder needs it.

A match counts when both players report the same result. Walk out after the halfway point of a match and it is recorded as a forfeit — you lose it. Abandon it earlier and nobody's rating moves. Cheating, exploiting or stuffing the ladder is grounds for wiping a rating.

10 — As-is, and disputes

The site, the API, the MCP server and the game are provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind and no liability for loss arising from their use or unavailability.

Disputes are handled in good faith — use the feedback form at /feedback and it gets read by the person who runs the site. That is the whole process.
